How do I know your products are vegan?

We've been a vegan company since we launched in 2012. Everything we make—from the uppers and linings to the glue—uses only vegan materials. We don't use any animal-derived materials anywhere in our products. You can trust that every item in our store is 100% vegan. We are also PETA-approved.

Are vegan shoes made of plastic?

Our vegan shoes are made with Italian bio-based vegan leather containing 62–66% plant-origin renewable materials. Produced in Italy using modern water-based, non-solvent processes, it combines a viscose backing with a next-generation bio-based polyurethane surface. All plant-origin inputs come from non-food, non-GMO sources. This delivers the same durability and feel as traditional PU leather while reducing reliance on fossil materials. We also use natural materials like organic cotton, Tencel™, and recycled components including recycled rubber, polyester, and nylon throughout our footwear. We're constantly working to reduce synthetic materials and increase biodegradable and natural alternatives wherever possible.

Why should I wear cruelty-free footwear, clothing and accessories?

Wearing traditional footwear and clothing made from animal leather is a cruel practice that treats living beings as mere commodities. The process involves brutal killing and skinning, reducing an animal's life to a fashion statement. We have no moral right to strip an animal of its skin for our wardrobe, especially when cruelty-free alternatives exist.

Many people mistakenly believe leather and wool are harmless "by-products" of the meat industry, but this isn't true. The leather industry is incredibly profitable in its own right—animal skins often represent the single most economically valuable part of a slaughtered animal, making leather a co-product, not a by-product. Animals are bred and raised specifically with their skins in mind. Similarly, wool is not a harmless haircut—sheep are selectively bred to produce unnaturally heavy fleeces, and the shearing process often involves rough handling, cuts, and injuries. Practices like mulesing (cutting skin from lambs without pain relief) are common in the industry.

The suffering is real and extensive. In the leather industry, animals endure intensive confinement, are transported in cramped conditions often without food or water, and face terrifying slaughter. Cattle are frequently skinned while still conscious. For wool, sheep suffer from exposure, flystrike, and are often killed once their wool production declines—typically at just a fraction of their natural lifespan. Shearling (sheepskin) involves killing young lambs specifically for their soft wool and skin.

In traditional footwear, animal-derived materials appear in the upper (cowhide, sheepskin), lining, soles, insoles, and even the glues (made from casein or collagen from bones and tendons). By choosing cruelty-free products, you reject this barbaric practice and stand against the needless suffering and exploitation of animals for the sake of vanity.

The same principle applies to outerwear. Traditional coats use animal-derived materials like leather, suede, shearling (sheepskin), and wool—all of which involve animal suffering. Our vegan leather coats, vegan suede coats, vegan shearling coats, and vegan wool coats are made from premium sustainable materials that are either recycled or natural, all ethically produced in Italy. These cruelty-free alternatives deliver the same warmth, durability, and style as their animal-based counterparts, while being certified carbon-neutral and packaged without plastic. By choosing vegan outerwear, you're making a compassionate choice without compromising on quality or performance.

Why do your products cost more than other vegan shoes?

There's always a story behind a low price. We produce everything in Italy and Portugal under strict EU employment laws, which means our workers have protected rights covering fair wages, working hours, health and safety, and anti-discrimination. We also invest in quality construction (like our Goodyear welt shoes that can be resoled for years of wear), sustainable materials, and operating a certified carbon-neutral supply chain with plastic-free packaging. You're paying for ethical production and products built to last.

Where do you make your products?

All our vegan shoes, clothing, and accessories are ethically made in Italy and Portugal under European Union employment, discrimination, and health & safety law. Our workers are protected with rights covering fair pay, safe conditions, and proper working hours. We don't believe in protecting animals whilst harming humans.

How do I look after my purchase?

Vegan Leather Uppers:

  • Clean: Use warm soapy water with a cloth or brush on both uppers and outsoles. Dry thoroughly with a towel.
  • Polish: Apply synthetic polish to restore shine and color. For burnished effects, reapply a darker polish or visit a cobbler.
  • Waterproofing: Optionally treat with waterproofing spray every 2-3 months, depending on use.
  • Avoid Dampness: Never let your footwear stay damp. Dry thoroughly before wearing again and use a deodoriser if needed. Extreme cases may require washing the insides with warm soapy water, followed by thorough drying.

Vegan Suede Uppers:

  • Brush: After drying, use a suede brush to restore texture.
  • Clean: For stubborn stains, use warm soapy water with a cloth or brush, then towel dry.
  • Waterproofing: Apply waterproofing spray every 2-3 months, depending on use.
  • Avoid Dampness: Follow the same drying and deodorising steps as vegan leather.

Goodyear Welt Footwear:

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean vegan leather with a damp cloth or sponge and warm soapy water. Avoid soaking. Use a brush or damp cloth for rubber outsoles.
  • Dry Properly: Let shoes air dry naturally away from direct heat. Stuff with shoe trees or crumpled paper to maintain shape.
  • Polish and Shine: Apply synthetic polish to restore shine, then buff with a soft cloth.
  • Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use dust bags or shoe boxes. Maintain shape with shoe trees.
  • Resoling: Solid rubber outsoles can be replaced by a cobbler when worn down—regularly check their condition.

General Tips:

  • Our vegan footwear withstands water, mud, road salt, and snow without damage.
  • Avoid direct heat when drying—use natural air drying or low-heat settings.
  • With proper care, customers regularly wear their Will's shoes for 5+ years.
